Question Necromancer loot tables...are they all weighted towards it?

I'm probably hallucinating...but then again perhaps not.

Has anyone else noticed that 90% of all the loot that drops in this game (Post searing) is Necromancer based? I cannot tell you how many cestas, truncheons and dark power staves I collect in ratio to anything else, but my guess would be in the neighborhood of 20:1.

I don't mind loot from classes I can't use, but hey Anet, mix it up a little please!

You're not hallucinating. I've noticed the same thing. It's to the point where I now say "Aww man... not another Grim Cesta for the love of..."

well i feel the exact opposit. My L20 necro/elemantalist hardly ever gets any drops like you describe. I played that char for well over 200 hours and hardly ever got any drops for her at all.

I don't know for sure but after playing three chars, it seems that none of them get what they need, but get what everyone else needs. Maybe to promote trade? who knows.

My necromancer find a lot of Earth wands and Earth staves. Maybe they're suggesting a secondary class change...

I find a lot of Necromancer items across the board. Doesn't matter if it's my N/Me, E/W or R/Mo.

I think that it's chance. It probably isn't weighed towards one thing or another, but you'll just have lucky (or unlucky) streaks.

I get tons of Elementalist stuff. I'm a W/Mo and a N/Me, and I'd like to see something for the 4 classes I play sometime! No, all I get are Fire staves, Air wands, Earth Staves, focii with Earth or Fire on them, I even get more Elementalist Runes. I've unlocked 4 Major runes so far, 3 of them Elementalist! I was actually thinking about changing my N/Me to N/E, just so I could use this stuff.

I notice that when I play with my normal gaming group, and we have a well rounded party class wise, everyone seems to get 80% of the drop for some other class.

My warrior gets the Ele stuff. Ranger gets the necro, Monk gets rangers, Ele gets monk, and the Mesmer gets all the swords and hammers and axes. If we change to different toons, the mix-match patern continues...the flvor just changes....its strange.

That reminds me of the game Sacred. You would always get loot for a different class. It took them a while to patch this.

wait the loot drops is affected by your character's main class or the secondary class?

For a while, I thought my loot drops were based on my secondary. I'm a R/E, and for a while, all I was getting was staffs, wands, and scrolls. And losing a piece of my mind everytime I picked one of them up.

i think its more than that ... it also has to do with the area you are in and the enemy that drops it ... for instance ... i get hammer drops mainly in the shiverpeaks and against mursaat.

i dont believe there programming is as simple as Warrior = wands

however you raise a funny point, I have NEVER GOTTEN A GOLD BOW FOR MY RANGER .... 1st of 6 toons and kept him for the fun of it ... never ever ever gotten a gold bow.

The drops are based upon what class the enemy is. Everything drops melee weapons and bows, while only casters will drop wands, staves, and foci - and even then, only items of the appropriate class. If you want to get monk items, you need to be killing monks, if you want to get mesmer items, you need to be killing mesmers.

People find so many more Necromancer items because packs of Necromancers are easy to kill, relatively. Most of the popular power pharming spots are either massive Necromancer packs, which are weak, or Warrior packs, which are easy to hate out. Monk and Elementalist packs? When you can even find them, the former are generally a pain to kill solo (with the notable exception of the Blessed Griffons), and the latter a pain to defend against reasonably. Hence the relative rarity of their items.

Peace,
-CxE

Actually Ensign, I get necromancer drops wherever I am in tyria - I wasn't referring to just a single location.
Reading through these posts, it appears that the drops are related to the class you are playing...If any necromancers ever need any max stat gear, I'm your guy to see - I usually just give it to the merchant, as I despise trading.
